Even before the inaugural stone was laid on the foundations of Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, in the first flush of the new millennium, everyone associated with it could see that it was a more sublime affair than mere brick and mortar.
And with very good reason. When a yet-to-be-born hospital, however swanky, however massive, aspires to mirror the long and illustrious career of a titan in the field, the usual concerns of hospital management and business blue-printing are the first to go out of the window. Not a single act of its coming into being stays mundane; everything is inevitably a question of honour. One chooses the nobler and brighter options over practical and gainful ones, choices that are worthy of the name it is founded on.
And when it is a tribute to an iconic father by his almost equally accomplished sons, it even transcends the question of honour. It becomes an act of love.
Our hospital in Thane was commissioned as a four bedded hospital on July 25th 2004. Hiranandani Estate had just started to bloom and this initiative fitted in well at that time. The hospital was started with the idea of being a daycare centre, however right from day one the concept was changed to that of a 24X7 Hospital. Slowly and surely it began to grow not only in square-footage and beds but in quality, range and quantum of work.
Hospital was started with the concept of ‘spoke to a hub’ model, but today is recognized as a stand-alone unit, which is replete with sophisticated medical equipments and staff to render quality healthcare to our community and to Thane city at large. We expanded by acquiring a part of the floor above and added ward beds and private rooms making it a 15 bedded hospital today. Hospital is carrying out complicated surgeries that are in line with a tertiary care hospital. There is also a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).The hospital has been ISO certified and NABH accredited.
